In December 2022, Vincent’s members Euan and Arthur Friend will be taking on the Talisker Whisky Atlantic Challenge, known as the ‘world’s toughest row’, alongside their two brothers, two sets of twins, as team The FriendShip. This challenge is a 3,000-mile unsupported rowing race across the Atlantic Ocean from La Gomera to Antigua and one of the toughest endurance events on the planet. By completing this, the Friends are aiming to become the first four brothers to row any ocean.
Euan has been a Vincent’s member since 2020. He has been awarded two rugby Blues in 2019 and 2021 and is looking forward to hopefully representing Oxford for a third time in the OURFC 2022 Varsity Match. His twin, Arthur, has been a Vincent's member since 2022. He is also playing rugby for OURFC and hoping to make his Varsity Match debut this year.

Aside from the desire for a physical challenge, the FriendShip are also raising money for three fantastic charities, all of which they are personally connected with. The charities are Friends of Kiwoko Hospital, a hospital in the rural Luweero region of central Uganda, Drive Forward Foundation, helping young adults leaving foster or residential care to achieve their full potential with exciting and sustainable employment opportunities, and CHAT (Churches Housing Action Team), support people experiencing housing difficulties in Mid Devon. Their goal is a staggering £150,000, which they are hoping to achieve through donations from supporters. To find out more about their challenge and charities or if you would like to donate, you can visit their website here.

The FriendShip have extended an invite for their upcoming charity ball and auction on the 4th of March to all Vincent’s Club members. Tickets can be booked individually or as a table of 10 – final numbers must be confirmed by the 13th of February so please get in touch as soon as possible if you are interested. You can reach out to Euan via email at euan.friend@stx.ox.ac.uk or via phone at 07974582935. For more details and where to book, the event page can be found here.
On top of their target of raising £150,000 for their charities, the team are faced with a baseline cost of £125,000 to get to the start line, which they are covering through corporate partnerships. The FriendShip are offering the opportunity for businesses to partner with them on this exciting journey and help them achieve their goals.
The team have already made great steps towards the start line, securing a boat that was delivered last year and attracting some exciting initial partners such as Brunswick Wharf Redevelopment Project and Knight Frank. If this is something you’d like to get involved in, you can take a look here or contact the team at twins@thefriendshipatlantic.com to discuss this option further.
Thank you for your support! If you’d like to see more of Euan and his brothers, you can follow their mission live on their social media:
