Oxford Elders’ Lunch

Vincent’s was delighted to hold a Christmas lunch for elderly people in the local area who otherwise may not have enjoyed one this December. Andy Harris, our chef, was contacted by a work colleague who started the project a little over 5 years ago. Each year, with the support of Age UK Oxford, hundreds of Oxford’s elderly take part and the scheme which is supported by 5 or 6 venues of which we are proud one.

The lunch itself went off without a hitch despite the inexperience of the committee in the kitchen. All who attended thoroughly enjoyed the afternoon and the Christmas spirit was provided by a delightful string quartet who played carols as people arrived.

A large thanks must go to the Vincent’s staff who all worked free of charge and the various members who served and ate along side our guests throughout the day. Many of our suppliers supported the event and we must thank Matthew Clark Wines, KFF, David John’s Butchers, McCarthy’s Fruit and Veg and Oxford City Suppliers for their kind donations.

The club very much hopes that this will be the start of an on ongoing charitable relationship with Age UK Oxford as we develop our presence within Oxford.
